Well it has been a while since our last post.  So here is a quick update on what we have been up to.  Kenneth is now in the same timezone as Brian and I so we are now getting more stuff done as ever...  We entered a submission to the Activision Independent Game Developers contest.  We are also making a FB game, figuring out more details into the MOLW universe, AND, working on the next version of What The?!

So we have lots of things going on right now and will keep you posted.

in the meantime pick up ISAWG from the xbox marketplace and give it a test drive.

Well the SLS gang got together for 2 weeks.  We got our act together and have put ISAWG (I Suck At Word Games) into review.  We also started work on another title that is a bit more action oriented the move away from the Puzzle and Trivia genre.  Also in the web-o-sphere Broke My Controller reviewed What The?! - you can check out their review here.

I found a definition for a 'Social Loner' on the Urban dictionary.  It seems to fit us really well.

What The?! update is now available on the XBLIG marketplace.  This is basically the DBP version we submitted and was awarded a spot on the top 20 finalists.  This version includes some new features, like buzz in, Avatars, prize reviews, and a statistics screen.

Work is currently under way on the next couple of versions of What The?!  We will have two new versions to be released soon, a Rock & Roll version that is all music trivia, and a more generic 2.0 version that will be general knowledge trivia questions, both of these versions will be build off of the Dream Build Play version.  Both of these versions will be released on the XBox 360 under Indie games.

Great news everyone!  With the awesome placement of What The?! in the top 20 finalists, we decided to lower the price point of What The?! from 400 Microsoft Points to 240 Microsoft Points!

So if you haven't purchased What The?! already, now is an even better opportunity!  Now get out there and show your friends and family how much you know about trivia!

Congratulations to all the other games in the top 20!  Here is the link to the press release, to view the information you need to have a docx viewer.  But here is a better site that lists all the finalist...

Hey everybody!  All of us at SLS have been really busy lately finishing up the Dream Build Play build of What The?!  Well, it's finally done and out the door!  Here are some of the new features that we added:

  • Full Xbox 360 Avatar Support- you can finally see your avatar playing the game!
  • Much more dialogue between Gary and Johnny
  • More cheesy lounge music on the Menu Screens
  • All new Buzz-in game type!

Unfortunately, we couldn't add everything to the game within the time limit.  The biggest cut that we had to make was Xbox Live Support.  So no online multiplayer just yet for What The?!, but we are planning on adding it to a sequel in the future.  So keep your eyes open!

In the mean time, all of us have started pre-production on several different game ideas to see which one we like the best.  We can't announce anything just yet, but check in every once and a while for more fabulous updates.

Well we have been busy at SLS recently.  So to give all of our followers and visitors an idea of what we have been working on here is the quick and dirty:

  • Dream Build Play
    • Avatar support to What The?! so you can play as your own Avatar
    • More dialogue between Gary and Johnny
    • Xbox Live support
    • more cheesy lounge music for the menus
    • more prizes
    • Plus an all new BuzzIn game with full support for the Big Button Controllers

Hopefully all the stuff we have created will get into the final build so once we get all of our assets together we'll have an idea of what we think is a game worthy of DBP

  • My Own Little War - The Game is now off of the back burner and Kenneth is starting on some new art assets.
  • Yet to be named word puzzle game - This game will challenge you to spell words from a grid with a twist in the game play.  As we finalize this we'll post more.

I've been mentioned in a Destructoid article.  The article itself is about the state of the XBox Community Games (soon to be XBox Indie Games).  Have a look if you get a chance.

Updated the website with some snazzy backgrounds when you click on "What The?!" or "My Own Little War" in the Games menu.

In other news, we are now focusing on our next XBox Live release, "My Own Little War", and shifting that website over to Social Loner Studios.

It took a little longer for What The?! to go through the community games review queue but the fix is now available.  This fix corrects 6 questions in the game.  Anyhow please re-download the game to get the fix, and if you have been waiting for this update to come out before trying the game, please check it out.

WooHoo!  UPS just delivered our t-shirts from zazzle.  They look really nice.  I was afraid that they might be made of cheap quality stuff, but they are actually made with Hanes tagless shirts so I don't even have to cut the tag off of these. NICE...

XBox's Major Nelson released his top 10 list this morning.  What The?! is number 8 on the list.  We are very happy with this, Josh and I shared a couple virtual high 5s.  Most of the reviews are positive, we are in the top 10.  Life is good...

Our latest version of What The?! has been put up for community review and hopefully after a week or so it will be available for download. Those who have already purchased the game should download What The?! again.

This version fixes 6 sports questions that were incorrectly giving a wrong answer as the correct answer.  I'll also post into the forum once the update is generally available.

Wow look at that, lots of changes to the website.  Yes we have added two new main pages, 'About Us' & 'Contact Us'.  Under the What The?! game we have also added 3 sub menus, 'FAQ', 'Forum', & 'Support'.  We should be getting some new art from Kenneth in the coming days, so stay tuned.

The nail biting and pacing around for the past week has finally paid off!  What The?! has been approved!  Yipee!  Yahoo! Ye-haw!  So now all we have left is to wait for the game to get posted to the game Marketplace on Xbox.  Kinda feels good.

(now lets see if anyone likes it) nail biting continues... Brian will pace this time

Well today is the big day.  Just submitted What The?! to Community Games for Peer Review.  After this step hopefully What The?! will get approved and posted onto Xbox CG for 360 owners to download and play.  Fingers crossed that the review process will be quick and painless.

The crew has been working hard.  Terje has finished recording his audio sessions as Johnny and I'll be editing them down for the game.  Meanwhile Kory and Brian have been sorting out our final list of booby prizes to be included in our release of What The?! and putting them into the game play.

Here is an update on What The?!

We have been working quite hard on delivering our very first game for XBox Community Games.  We have already posted the game for play test and received really great comments and are quite excited to share this with the XBox CG.  Our next step is to finish all the little details that we have been putting off and then submit the game for review (we hope this will be early May 2009). Kory has been burning the midnight oil and churning out the artwork like nobody's business and Terje will be back soon to finish recording the final set of questions.  I'll post more later as we get closer to submitting the game.
